“It is these positions between art and technology that can make ArtScience so surprising. Knowledge is limited, while imagination always goes further. Technology says something about how we understand the world, but it is also a simplification of our perception of the world. In the meantime, we are overwhelmed by all kinds of (commercial) information and we no longer see the forest through the trees as a result of which our perspective on and our actions in the world is shifting. Art, unlike technology, does not solve problems, but sometimes, like science, it can raise (fundamental) questions. It is a missed opportunity that there is so little attention for this within the culture of museums here in the Netherlands.” – Eric Vreedenburgh on ‘Locating ArtScience‘ (2017), ArchiNed
2024
In 2023 Stroom Young Talent Award, Mike Rijnierse has been invited to work with two KABK bachelors of his choice. He then selected the ArtScience Interfaculty graduates Myra-Ida van der Veen and Christian Schwarz to mentor over the course of one year (2023-2024). The Stroom Young Talent Award focuses on artistic development and on the broadening and strengthening of professional practice. Participating artists are supervised throughout the year by a established artist from The Hague and realize work plans for their professional practice in close consultation with the mentoring artist.

Myra-Ida van der Veen has developed the performance Second Breath, which was presented at Quartair during Rewire Festival, under the program Proximity Music of iii. Christian Schwartz has been exhibiting his work (inter)nationally since then.
